A photograph can exist simultaneously as an object, evidence and historical record. Numerous photographs construct a world of Simulacra – a world with past, present, and future – which is parallel to the objective world. In China, a large number of World War II-themed anti-Japanese TV dramas were made and showed in the past few years. I directly make photographs of the screen and arrange them into a fictional archive T01[01.1a-37.1c]-T04[01.1-80.1] which comprises various videos, photographic reproductions, scrapbooks, and objects to locate, produce, preserve, and analyze a period of history created and depicted by countless images and investigate the (dis)connections between the reality narrated by screen and the historical facts, as well as how photographic images, materials, and processes can trigger partial understanding of history. T01[01.1a-37.1c]-T04[01.1-80.1] is a project produced by Yuxiang Dong between 2015 and 2019 with a selection available on this site.
